GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

A former Girl Scout leader has plead guilty to felony theft charges after she admitted stealing $6,000 from a cookie fundraiser.

Carmen Wysong, 27, was in Mesa County Court Wednesday morning.

Wysong was accused of stealing $6,000 from the Girl Scouts so she could make a deposit on a place to live, pay for utilities, food and payments on a vehicle, according to police.

The money from cookie sales was supposed to be deposited into a bank account Wysong was responsible for setting up, but the account was never actually opened.

Wysong plead guilty to a class 4 felony of theft on Wednesday and she faces sentencing on May, 20th at 8:00 a.m.

Under the terms of her plea agreement, she'll have to spend time in community corrections and faces probation.

Wysong also agreed to pay $4,800 in restitution to the Girl Scout Troop she stole from.
