The city of Grand Junction will no longer be moving forward with the 4th of July fireworks display at Lincoln Park because of the Pine Ridge fire and extremely dry conditions in our area.
Grand Junction Mayor Bill Pitts says the event is postponed for the time being.
City officials say they wanted to show respect and be sensitive to the fire danger in the area and with all that's going on right here in our backyard.
The city has also banned the sales of fireworks to encourage people to adhere to the fire bans in the area.
The city of Montrose and Fruita have also canceled their fireworks shows.
Fruita is holding a concert downtown on the 3rd of July instead.
