GJ Residents Come Together To Mourn Connecticut Victims

Young children to adults paid their respects to the lives lost at the Connecticut elementary school on Friday, finding hope through tragedy.

"It's not only prayer and support for people but also direction for our country as well as individual assessments of how we can be better equipped to help people," said John Cooper.

Organizers with the Church of Christ say now is the time to be there for the people in Connecticut, and also reflect on this brutal attack here, in our own community.

"It's sad but strange that tragedy often brings people together, but if we could be that caring at all times, maybe we could avoid some of these things," said John Cooper.

School aged children also came to show their respects, like Kelsey Heath, who said the attack at the school was just devastating.

"I was talking to some of my schoolmates, what would we do in such a scary moment like that," said Kelsay Heath.

Heath says she can't believe this would happen, especially somewhere so safe as a school.

"It's scary, anything like that can happen at any time, said Heath."

Church of Christ is holding mass on Sunday at 10:15am with a special prayer service for the Connecticut victims.  Anyone is welcome to attend.  The church is located at 2893 F Road.
