Just how uncertain is the current economic outlook?
That’s what the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce attempted to answer when it sent out its most recent survey.
It asked hundreds of local businesses questions like how they view the economy and what they expect for the future.
The results are in and it's a mixed bag.
75% view the economy as weak or extremely weak. That’s actually better than last year’s survey.
In response to when the local economy might start to recover, only 22% think it already has. Most don't think that will happen for another two years.
“We’ve got businesses that probably are more worried than I’ve seen them in the last couple of years, in terms of what the future holds for them. That has implications for our local economy,” Diane Schwenke, with the chamber, said. “All of the uncertainty that we thought was going to go away with the election has not.”
The chamber says it'll use the survey results to plan for the community.
