Businesses along North Avenue are getting a big "thank you" from the chamber of commerce.
Chamber volunteers are visiting 150 businesses on Thursday, thanking them for being in businesses and asking what the chamber and the community can do to help them be more successful.
The goal of the chamber's business walk is to be supportive of the business community and promote economic growth.
It says hearing from existing North Avenue businesses is vital.
“This is an area that has suffered fairly high vacancy rates in terms of their commercial structures,” Diane Schwenke, with the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce, said. “It’s an area in transition that we want to see continue to be a vibrant part of our commercial corridors.”
Chamber business walks are held each quarter as a method to reach out to businesses.
There are between 500 and 800 businesses along North Ave.
Since volunteers can't get to all those in one day, another walk will be scheduled there in the fall.
