Fruita Park may undergo improvements
It's where folks in Fruita go for their picnics, concerts and festivals; the Civic Center Memorial Park.
Its right in downtown Fruita and Parks and Rec authorities say some improvements to the popular spot could be coming soon.
They're still in the early planning stages but city council and Parks and Rec officials say they hope to re-design the well known location, making it more inviting to the public and accessible to downtown foot traffic.
The potential plan calls for infrastructure development as well as relocating the stage to the southwest corner of the park.
Parks and Recreation Authority, Ture Nycun said, "What we thought we could do is take a look at the orientation of everything in the park and maybe redesign it so it would be better orientated and connected downtown a little bit more. We just have a lot of events there that need more and more infrastructure, electrical needs and things like that."
The city has fifty thousand dollars put aside for their capital improvement budget to work on the park.
Authorities say they may be applying for further grants depending on the final concept, which they hope to be finalized within the next several months.
City hall meetings are expected to take place in January to discuss the park plans.
Fruita authorities say their design plan heavily relies on the publics input.
