Firefighters go on a shopping spree for local kids
They’ve been saving all year and this morning one local firehouse went on a shopping spree, spending over $6,000.
Carts were filled to the brim. Because they teamed up with Toys for Tots, everything the firefighters bought will be passed on to less fortunate kids for Christmas.
This event is a tradition that been going on for at least fifteen years.
Firefighters say it’s their job to help out the community and this is a fun way for them to do just that.
“Firemen are a bunch of big kids anyway,” Chief Chris McCoy said. “We love doing things to help the community, help the kids in general.”
Firefighters bought enough Christmas gifts to fill an entire trailer.
They’re dropping them off at Toys for Tots headquarters, where they'll be distributed.
This event is the biggest and most anticipated event the station hosts all year.
