PARK COUNTY, Colo. -

Firefighters are battling a wildfire in Colorado's Pike National Forest near Colorado Springs.

Officials say the 'Springer Fire' grew quickly from a handful of acres Sunday afternoon to about 300 acres in the evening.

According to our sister station, KRDO, all people withing a five mile radius of a nearby subdivision have been handed mandatory evacuations. That includes hundreds of campers and homeowners.

There is no word yet on what caused the blaze that sparked around Noon on Sunday.
