Fire breaks out at Cafe Rio
Monday morning blaze started in kitchen
A local restaurant had a bit of a scare before opening for business Monday.
A fire broke out in the kitchen of Café Rio around 8:30am.
Grand Junction firefighters found light smoke and a small amount of flames from a gas line under repair in the business.
The fire was contained to the kitchen and an fire suppression system was activated by an employee, helping to contain the small blaze.
Crews were able to put out the flames before the restaurant suffered serious damage.
The business was occupied by only a couple of employees.
One did receive some burns and was transported to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
