With the election being certified today, the results are final and we're one step closer to legalized pot. But many local businesses on the Western Slope are still in the dark when it comes to how the passage of Amendment 64 affects them.

The official election results are bringing up a lot of questions when it comes to businesses, tourism, and public lands. Many are still not sure how Amendment 64 will affect their lives and if the feds decide to enforce their laws, what that enforcement will actually look like.

“If you're a business who actually operates on federal lands, or you have federal contracts, how are you to manage your employment situation? So we have actually joined a coalition of business organizations asking the attorney general to give us some clarification around what the federal government is going to do with regard to the passage of Amendment 64”, explained Bonnie Petersen, Executive Director of Club 20.

Club 20 and the Grand Junction chamber of commerce hope to hear back from the attorney general before the end of the year. They want to know what people will need to do to and what parameters will need to be met. They hope legislators come up with new rules as soon as possible.

Petersen also mentioned before businesses spend their time, money, and resources on changes based on the new amendment, they need to know more from the attorney general
