Eagle County commissioners have approved a 10-year contract to accept ash from a wood-burning biomass plant that's being built in Gypsum.
County officials say up to 3,000 tons a year will be dumped in a county landfill.
According to the Vail Daily (http://tinyurl.com/dyxo8qv ), the plant is scheduled to go on line late this year.
Most of the wood fuel for the plant will be collected from forest lands surrounding Gypsum. The Eagle County Landfill has also agreed to donate its wood waste to the plant, which is anticipated to save the landfill $15,000 to $20,000 per year in mulching costs.
