GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

A lot of excitement and preparation came before last night’s storm.

As expected it dumped plenty of snow on Western Slope roads, making for a messy commute.

Sure, it took some people a little longer to get from point “a” to point “b.” But after months of dry conditions, most people we talked to are just happy we got some precipitation.

Adam Bellamy, says, “I’m glad to see some snow. I don't mind driving in it. People seem to take it cautious.”

“It took me twice as long this morning to get to Collbran and back to Grand Junction,” Travis Hawks said. “The interstate was a little rough, going to Collbran was a little rough but we have good road workers and they're on it."

The slippery roads resulted in several wrecks.  Grand’s police department has now canceled its accident alert.

However, some roads in the area, especially some of the side streets, may still have icy spots on them. Drivers should take extra care when out on the roads, give themselves plenty of time to get to the destinations, and leave plenty of distance between the cars in front of them.
