Deputy charged with sexual exploitation of a child
A Douglas County sheriff's deputy who was suspended as part of an investigation into inappropriate text messages involving a juvenile has been arrested on two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Sgt. Ron Hanavan says the deputy, whose name has not been released, was arrested Friday and has since posted $50,000 bail. The deputy has been put on unpaid leave pending the outcome of a criminal investigation that began last week. An internal investigation also is under way.
Hanavan says the alleged conduct occurred while the deputy was off duty. No other details have been released.
