A Denver program that sends out alerts to the public to be on the lookout for vehicles involved in serious hit-and-run crashes is getting support.
Larry Stevenson created the Medina Alert named after Jose Medina, who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Denver.
According to the Denver Post (http://tinyurl.com/b7ekaef ), the notification system is modeled after the Amber Alert, a national system that seeks public help in finding missing children.
Medina was killed two years ago when he was struck by an SUV on the first day of his job as a valet at a Denver nightclub. A taxi driver followed the fleeing vehicle and helped police make several arrests.
