Community Hospital in Grand Junction is now offering more surgical weight-loss solutions.
On Wednesday afternoon, the hospital announced a joint-venture with four local, general surgeons, to provide a full-spectrum bariatric program.
Community Hospital already provides Lap-Band surgery, but now it will be able to offer Sleeve Gastrectomy and Gastric Bypass surgery as well.
The hospital had a ribbon cutting ceremony to introduce its new surgeons and unveil one of its private rooms specifically designed for bariatric patients.
According to Jim Hanosh, one of the new general/bariatric surgeons at Community Hospital, "All of the people that are involved in the program, and it is very extensive it does take a lot of help in order to be able to do these procedures, have been very gracious and very helpful and we're just looking forward to working with all of them."
The other three surgeons that will be joining Dr. Hanosh are Andrew Morse, Teyen Shiao and Eric Hanly.
Surgeons have high-hopes that they'll attain a center of excellence within the next year and eventually have the best bariatric program in the state of Colorado.
The hospital's east wing is being remodeled to offer four, private patient rooms, designed primarily for bariatric patients.
Each room and bath will be updated and equipped with furniture, beds and tables to accommodate bariatric patients and meet the criteria for Center of Excellence standards, according to hospital officials.
Community Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital that was founded in 1946.
