The president of Colorado Mountain College has resigned.
    
Trustees on Thursday accepted Stan Jensen's resignation and approved a $500,000 severance package funded by a reserve account.
    
Details of why Jensen is resigning haven't been released. The president of the board of trustees, Glenn Davis, says the split is about fit more than anything else. He says trustees have recently discussed appropriate relations and responsibilities between the board and the college president.
    
Jensen didn't immediately return a phone message seeking comment Friday evening.
    
Davis says Jensen's resignation isn't related to a lease allowing the natural gas utility SourceGas to build a compressor station on college property. Jensen negotiated the agreement, which some students and teachers questioned.
    
During Jensen's tenure, the college won authorization to offer some four-year degree programs.
