GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

Offices for the city of Grand Junction will be closed on Wednesday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.

According to Sam Rainguet, communications manager for the city, there will be no trash collection on Wednesday and it will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.

City recycling won't be picked up on Wednesday either. Instead, Wednesday's pick up will occur with Thursday's recycling route. Recycling collection for Friday, July 6th will be on the regular schedule, according to Rainguet.

Wednesday will also be a parking meter holiday. So if you have business or shopping to take care of downtown, you may park in all metered spaces for free, which includes the parking garage on Rood Avenue.

4th of July festivities will take place at Lincoln Park. The show will start either at 9:45 p.m. or at the conclusion of the Grand Junction Rockies game.

City officials recommend you bring lawn chairs and come early to make sure you get a good view of one of the best fireworks displays in the Grand Valley.
