Central High School was placed on lockdown at 10:30am after a witness reported seeing a gun inside of a vehicle.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer, Heather Benjamin, says the vehicle has yet to be located, but reminds folks that it is hunting season and also that BB guns and airsoft guns often look like real guns.
No threat was made to the school.
The lockdown was changed to a shelter in place at 10:45am and then lifted at 11:30am.
