Beginning Saturday night, a campground that used to be free will now cost you a little bit of cash to stay for the night.
The B.L.M. will now be charging a $10 fee per night to camp at the popular North Fruita Desert Campground.
It's part of the B.L.M.'s effort to improve visitor services and facilities.
All the money will stay on-site and be applied directly toward improving camping services and facilities at the 40-acre area.
"Right now we've got about 35 sites and during the spring and fall busy seasons, those are full to capacity, and we'd really like to provide some additional opportunities, so that fee will go towards eventual expansion as well," said Chris Pipkin, the outdoor recreation planner for the B.L.M.
Pipkin expects campers to begin filling up sites Friday evening for the Labor Day weekend. However, the $10 fee won't be in place until Saturday night.
