GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

If you were on the campus of CMU today, you may have noticed some extra school spirit.

This week marks CMU's annual Homecoming Week and it kicked off earlier today with a culinary competition.

For the 6th straight year, the CMU / Western Colorado Community College Iron Chef-style competition took place between culinary students.  The head to head cook-off was at CMU's University Center.

"The CMU theme for this year's homecoming is We Are CMU, so today we're going head to head with mods one and mod two. We have the battle of the burgers, where they're going to be using ground beef as a theme ingredient" said Jon St. Peter, Asst. Technical Professor at WCCC.

"Homecoming is going on all throughout this week. It's starts this Monday, today, and goes until Saturday until the homecoming game... It's really exciting. All of our different buildings on campus are decorated. If you walk through the University Center you can see we've been working on it all weekend. There's balloons, everything decked out with the theme we are mavericks, we are CMU" said Tess Matsukawa, Program Activities Council at CMU.

This weeks festivities will end on Saturday with CMU's big homecoming game versus the New Mexico Highland Cowboys.
