GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

Even though it is starting to feel like spring, CDOT says there's about 42% of its winter remaining.

Crews work on snow and ice removal all the way through May.

Each year the department gets assigned a budget to do that based on past winters.

The Grand Junction maintenance section has only spent a little over half of its roughly twelve million dollars.

Officials say CDOT is in pretty good shape as it prepares for future storms.

However, if a maintenance section does fall short of its budget, funds can be transferred from one of the other eight in the state.
