The Burns Fire near Pagosa Springs is now 50% contained.
Estimated at 170 acres and burning in Archuleta County, three firefighting crews are working in steep, rugged terrain to tackle the blaze.
Air support is not being utilized on Tuesday as retardant lines seem to be holding.
The fire started on private lands and spread onto Southern Ute Indian Reservation. Its origin has not been determined at this time.
The flames are burning 12 miles southwest of Pagosa Springs.
