Boulder chief: 2nd department DUI arrest worrisome
Boulder police chief Mark Beckner says he is very concerned after a second member of his department was accused of drunk driving.
Police say officer Elizabeth Ward was driving on Interstate 25 on Tuesday when a Thornton police officer responding to a report of a drunk driver found Ward had pulled off the road. Police say Ward, who is a Boulder DUI enforcement officer, told police she was drunk and she was arrested. Contrary to initial reports, police say she wasn't in uniform at the time.
The arrest comes less than a month after Detective Scott Morris was arrested on suspicion of DUI by the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Boulder Daily Camera (http://tinyurl.com/chyneus ), discipline could range from a verbal reprimand to termination.
