DE BEQUE, Colo. -

A large boulder caused some scary moments for commuters along I-70 on Monday morning.

The rock was first reported around 4:00 a.m. Monday.

According to police, the rock was partially blocking traffic in the eastbound lanes of I-70 just outside of the De Beque tunnel at mile marker 54.

We had a viewer call our station who nearly struck the rock while driving. They said the boulder was about four-feet wide and was just about blocking one entire lane.

According to Ashley Mohr with CDOT, crews were able to remove the boulder quickly and there were no accidents caused by the rock.

Mohr says the boulder became dislodged after some heavy rainfall over the weekend.
