GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

On Saturday, the C.S.U. Extension Office will be holding its 15th Annual Tree Auction and Plant Sale.

The office has been receiving a variety of trees, perennial plants and shrubs all this week in preparation for the big day.

Volunteers with the Master Gardener program have also been on hand throughout the week to help organize and price the plants for the event.

The auction and plant sale is important to the extension office because it's the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Master Gardeners.

KJCT spoke with the center's Horticulture Educational Specialist to learn why the auction and sale event is so important for the Master Gardeners.

"It's a wonderful volunteer program, these people help people in the community figure out plant problems, identify plants, we test soil and water. [There are] a lot of services for the community in the whole realm of horticulture," said Susan Rose.

All proceeds from the Tree Auction and Plant Sale go directly to benefit the Master Gardeners.

The tree auction begins Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

The office will also have plants for sale from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and volunteers will be there to answer questions as well.
