GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

Have you ever wanted to help develop urban paths and trails for recreation? You can have your say this week at the 1st Annual Walking and Biking Trails Summit.

Registration is now open for the summit; join neighbors, community leaders and planners on Friday, March 8th, at the Two Rivers Convention Center in Grand Junction.

The event begins at 8:00 a.m.

The purpose of the summit is to help develop urban paths and trails that will improve safety and increase access to recreational trails for the community, according to Mesa County officials.

Experts will be at the 2013 Walking and Biking Trails Summit to engage the public in topics related to health, safety, and prosperity of our community and the important role trails play.

While discussing the importance of trails, officials said the summit will explore four different categories:

County officials ask that you preregister today to join the discussion to build understanding and support around the values and importance of trails, sidewalks and routes.
