AZ Escapee Found In Rifle
Suspect Held On No Bond At GarCo Jail
One of three inmates who escaped from a northwest Arizona prison has been captured in Western Colorado.
Arizona Department of Corrections spokesman Barrett Marson says Daniel Renwick was caught early Sunday in Rifle, about 670 miles from the Arizona State Prison in Golden Valley, AZ.
Renwick was serving 22 years for second-degree murder when he and two other men escaped Friday evening by cutting a hole through a perimeter fence.
According to Rifle Police, officers got reports of a suspicious vehcile driving east on Interstate 70 about12:45am. Police say when they tried to pull the car over, the driver did not stop and allegedly fired at least one gunshot. Officers eventually rammed the suspects car. The driver stopped and he was taken into custody. Nobody was injured during the incident.
Tonight Renwick is being held at the Garfield County Jail in Glenwood Springs on no bond. Authorities are still searching for the other escapees who are believed to be very dangerous.
