Barbershop Quartets To Take Stage In GJ

Sweet Adelines Summer Concert Saturday Night

POSTED: 4:17 pm MDT July 15, 2011
More than 100 singers will take the stage at Mesa State College Saturday night. The Grand Mesa Chorus of Sweet Adelines will present their summer concert 'Sound Celebration'.

The show will feature the Skyline Chorus from Denver, as well as other barbershop quartets from around the nation. One group of singers stopped by our studios to give us a sneak preview of what you can expect.

"This is a four-part, barbershop style, acapella harmony," says singer Colette Mayers, "and just really gorgeous harmonies and beautiful music, so it's going to be an excellent show."

The concert is Saturday at 7 p.m. at Robinson Theater. You can buy tickets at City Market stores or at the door. All proceeds from ticket sales go to benefit the Young Singers Foundation, a group that promotes music programs in schools.

Leading up to the big show, there will be a special surprise going at Mesa Mall Saturday. To find out what it is, you'll have to stop by the clock court around 1 p.m.
