24th Annual Christmas Train Show

They've been around for years, and today people had a chance to remember history.        

We stopped by the 24th Annual Christmas Train Show at the cross orchards farm.

The restoration of the train cars first began in 19-86 by the Rio Grande chapter of the national railway historic society.  

The society found the cars in areas of Colorado and Utah, and brought them to cross orchards for restoration.

Volunteers have been working on re-creating the train for 28 years now.

They will continue making additions to the project. 

"Maybe most people don't even know about this railroad because it's been gone for so long, and it's just a way to educate the locals, everybody enjoys coming out here, especially the kids," said volunteer John Hocker.

The Grand Junction yard is being transformed into a replica of the Denver and Rio Grande railroad as it traveled from Denver to salt lake for mining

The Unitah Railway was in operation for thirty plus years.

It was 64 miles long and was one of the last Narrow Gauge Railroads.

You can even go inside the boxcars and the caboose where volunteers have re-created the train to look just like it used to.

The train show is every Saturday and Sunday until the end of the month from 10 am to 4 pm.
