GRAND JUNCTION, Colo -- Those with physical disabilities have the chance to learn about new ways to be more independent on Saturday at the Mesa County Fairgrounds. The Accessible Home Exhibit contains the typical setup of a six-room home, but with a catch. The rooms have been outfitted with technology designed to give those with disabilities a better chance at independence.Instructor Denice Roberts says revealing this technology to those who need it can make a huge impact on their lives."People want to remain independent. I mean losing their home has got to be one of the hardest things to do," Roberts explained. She says things like stair lifts can keep disabled homeowners from having to move out.Other products, like stoves with side-mounted burner controls and hand-pedaled bicycles, can help those confined to wheelchairs. If you're interested in heading over to the expo, you still have some time. The free event runs from 10am through 2pm Saturday at the Mesa County Fairgrounds community building.
A printing error could be a major setback for the Colorado Caucus in Mesa County. The Mesa County Republicans say the error in the County Clerk's office will mean 75% of Republican voters will not get their voter ID cards in the mail before Tuesday’s Caucus. This means eligible voters will have to find where to go on caucus night on their own. How to find your Caucus Site.
