A man is at large after a short car chase with the Colorado State Patrol.

Around 2 pm there were reports of a police officer attempting to pull a vehicle over in Fruita. The driver didn't stop and later the C.S.P. picked up the chase near I-70 in Clifton.

The pursuit led authorities into a nearby neighborhood where two elementary schools were put on shelter in place.

Authorities say they think they know who the driver is but he is still at large.
