20 Car Break-Ins Hit Grand Junction Neighborhood
Several Junction Apartment Complexes Were Targeted.
Several cars were broken into at some Grand Junction apartment complexes. Residents are still in the dark as to what exactly happened. Police continue their investigation to find the suspects involved.
Police received about 20 break-in reports, and more may still need to be reported. Those living at the apartments where it happened, say it's unfair and unsettling.
"It's like you're violated. Even though nothing was taken from me, my security was taken," resident Melissa Thomas said.
Yesterday Thomas woke up to a broken window in her car. She says the break-ins have stirred her apartment to change the way they do things.
"This might be an incident that will convince them to get security cameras which will definitely make me feel safer."
Thomas says her car was unlocked at the time of the break-in and she had nothing stolen out of it. However, she says it looks like someone tried to steal her broken stereo.
GJPD says these sort of break-ins happen every now and again. This morning, officers do not have much suspect information. If you know anything, call the department at 242-6707.
