GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -

It was here at monument ridge just off linden Avenue where a single shot was fired Monday night.

A woman inside her apartment with two kids says when she asked police what happened they failed to tell her a possible gunman was on the loose.

"I'm a concerned mother I feel like I should have been let known that there was a man with a gun outside of my house, god only knows where he was because the police didn't find him," said the tenant.

The mother of two who asked not to be identified said after a shot was fired in the area Monday night police offered little information.

"He said oh nothing, don't worry about it we have everything handled, well I later found out they didn't have everything handled," said the tenant.

She says she feels both frustrated and unsafe, "I feel like I was denied information that I was entitled to you know me and my children live here, and I just feel really unsafe knowing that this man could of been hiding in any of these garages he could of taken cover anywhere on our apartment complex, and it just didn't seem like the police didn't do anything to let anyone know, we had to find out on our own," said the resident.

Police spokeswoman Kate Porras says the GJPD responded to the gun shot and determined there was no further threat to the tenants.

"It just depends on what's going on every situation is completely different the bottom line though is if we felt there as a possibility that other people could be in harms way we certainly would send out notifications or if we needed to take it a step further and go door to door we would do that as well, it simply wasn't the case for this particular incident," stated Porras.

To add to the frustration tenants say they haven't received any emails, knocks on the door, or even flyers from the manager of the apartment complex regarding the incident.

We tried talking to the manager but we were quickly turned away with no comment.

The resident added, "I'm very scared, I feel really uncomfortable, especially knowing that he didn't get caught."

No arrests have been made in the case... but police continue to interview witnesses.
