Americans have been fascinated with teachers who cross the line and have sexual relationships with their students. This trend has been a growing concern within the education system, beginning with the infamous Mary Kay Letourneau case in 1995.

Brittni Colleps. Fort Worth, TX. The 28-year-old mother of three and former English teacher at a Fort Worth high school was accused in August 2012 of having inappropriate sexual relationships with four of her male, teenage students.
Mary Kay Letourneau. Seattle, WA. Perhaps the most famous teacher sex scandal, Latourneau began an affair with then 13-year-old student Vili Fualaau in 1996 after becoming his sixth grade teacher. She eventually went on to mother two of his children and the couple remains married to this day.
James Hooker. Modesto, CA. In 2011, 41-year-old California teacher James Hooker left his family and his position at a Modesto high school to live with his 18-year-old former student. Later it was revealed that he may have had a similar inappropriate relationship with another former student.
Debra Lafave. Temple Terrace, FL. In 2004, LaFave was arrested on charges of having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old student. She claimed to suffer from bipolar disorder and her defense attorney infamously argued that Lafave was too pretty to go to jail. She avoided jail time.
Abbie Jane Swogger. Natrona Heights, PA. In 2009 Swogger, a former exotic dancer turned teacher's aide, rented a hotel room and invited several underage students to "party" with her. Police found beer, marijuana, an open condom wrapper and several 14 and 15-year-old teenagers. Swogger had also had sexual intercourse with another 16-year-old student weeks earlier.
Pamela Smart. Derry, NH. February of 1990, Smart, the Director of media services at Winnacunnet High School, began having an affair with freshman Billy Floyd. After her husband was found shot to death, Smart was found guilty in 1991 of being an accomplice to first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and witness tampering. She was given life without parole.
Lisa Lavoie. Holyoke, MA. After falling under suspicion for having an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student, Lavoie went on a two-week long road trip with him, evading police until finally being arrested in West Virginia.
Beth Geisel. Albany, NY. Geisel was a teacher at Christian Brothers Academy, a private Catholic school, when she was fired for having sex with three students and supplying them with alcohol.
Alison Peck. Greenfield, MO. Peck was a 23-year-old music teacher in 2009 when she plead guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old student. Later that year, she was arrested again after allegedly meeting with the student at a hotel to have sex.
Stephanie Ragusa. Tampa, FL. Between March and April of 2008, Ragusa , a math teacher, was arrested three separate times for having sex with two different underage male students, one 16 and the other 14. On June 28, 2010, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Pamela Rogers Turner. McMinnville, TN. Rogers Turner carried on a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student in 2005. After being ordered to stay away from the student, she was arrested again in April, 2006, for sending him sexual pictures and videos of herself, as well as contacting him through blogs and social networks.
Carrie McCandless. Palm City, CA. A teacher and cheerleading coach, McCandless was found guilty of supplying students with alcohol on a 2006 camping trip and "doing everything except have sex" with a 17-year-old male student while another student slept on a couch nearby. She was fired from the school where her husband was employed as the principal.
Stacy Schuler. Lebanon, Ohio. In 2011, former high school teacher Schuler plead guilty by reason of insanity to charges that she had sexual contact with five students. She was ultimately sentenced to four years in prison followed by five years of probation.
