No Plastic Bags -- Los Angeles became the largest U.S. city to ban the use of plastic grocery bags, joining nearly four dozen other California municipalities. Every county in Hawaii also prohibits them, as does Portland, Ore., and the Outer Banks region of North Carolina.
No Paper Bags -- The city of Austin, Texas, passed one of the broadest bag laws in the nation, agreeing to ban disposable paper and plastic bags starting in March 2013 in favor of reusable bags.
No Saxophones -- After a continued noise problem involving street musicians, the city of Salem, Ore., banned all outdoor saxophone playing.
No Plastic Straws -- London bars and restaurants have launched a campaign to cut down on plastic straw waste, proposing they only be handed out when requested.
No Styrofoam -- The city of San Jose, Calif., is considering a ban on Styrofoam food containers in city facilities and at city-sponsored events.
No Texting While Walking -- The city of Fort Lee, N.J., passed a ban on texting while walking in early May 2012.
No Bottled Water -- More than 90 colleges and universities have banned or restricted the sale of bottled water on campus, and Massachusetts is now considering the same.
No Breastfeeding Toddlers -- The Atlanta suburb of Forest Park has banned mothers from breastfeeding children ages 2 and up in public, citing public indecency concerns.
No Camping -- Earlier this month, the city of Denver passed a controversial law banning homeless people and others from camping overnight on public or private property.
No Happy Hour -- New York City is also considering a ban on happy hours in an effort to curb "risky alcohol use."
No Happy Meals -- San Francisco banned the sale of McDonald's Happy Meals in late 2010. Lawmakers in other states have called for a ban on toys in the meals.
No Having Fun? -- The town of Weston, Fla., has banned nightclubs, dance halls and skating rinks amid concerns about crime and crowds.
