HOMETOWN: Tucson, Arizona

EDUCATION: Katie graduated Cum Laude and with Honors from the University of Arizona in 2008. She has a B.A in Journalism with a minor in Communication.

EXPERIENCE: Katie is the Morning Anchor and Executive Producer for KJCT News 8 This Morning in beautiful Grand Junction, Colorado.

She feels broadcasting runs in her blood-both her mother and godmother were reporters.

Before working here on the Western Slope, Katie spent a year in New Mexico as the Southeastern Bureau Chief for KOB-TV.

When she was in college, Katie was an Assistant Producer for the Fox 11 Sports Force, interned at both the ABC and NBC affiliates, anchored KUAT's Arizona Cat's Eye, and worked as an anchor/ producer/ assignment editor for UATV.

INTERESTS: Katie's lived from California to New York, but she is so happy to be back in the great state of Colorado. She went to Monarch High School in Louisville, Colorado, home of the Monarch Coyote 4A State Football Champs.

She is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, National Association of Hispanic Journalists and is an alumnus of Gamma Phi Beta sorority.

In her free time she loves staying active by hiking, skiing and doing yoga. She also is an avid animal lover.

Katie misses her friends and family back in Tucson, but loves the new adventures she is having and the people she is meeting in Grand Junction.
