Eddie James Ellis arrested after threatening local hospitals

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. UPDATE: On 6/10/14 at about 4:05 PM GJPD officers responded to a threats call at St. Mary’s Hospital E.R. Facts known to the officers as they were responding was that a male became angry in reference to care that his child was receiving and threatened to retrieve a gun and return to shoot St. Mary’s staff. Arriving officers coordinated with St Mary’s security and got a description of the male and learned that he may have gone to Community Hospital. Officers responded to Community and found the male exiting a vehicle and walking towards the public E.R. entrance. The male was found to have an empty holster strapped to his belt. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed two handguns concealed in the front passenger area.

Subsequent to that discovery Eddie James Ellis, 11-16-69, of Clifton, was arrested and booked on charges of Obstructing Emergency Medical Services, Harassment and Prohibited Use of a Firearm.


According to the Grand Junction Police Department a suspect has been arrested following threats made at both St. Mary's Hospital and Community Hospital.

St. Mary's reported gun threats to the GJPD and officers met the man at Community Hospital where they found two loaded guns in his car. Reports indicate he was carrying an empty gun holster at Community Hospital. The man was arrested for his actions by law enforcement.
