DENVER (AP) -- A 47-year-old man wanted for attempted murder of a police officer has been arrested after authorities say he barricaded himself in a Commerce City home and repeatedly fired at SWAT teams.
Commerce City police spokesman Chris Dickey tells The Denver Post Gary Richardson was arrested early Saturday morning after five hours of negotiations. He says Richardson fired two volleys of bullets at officers who entered a home to arrest him, but the officers didn't return fire and weren't injured.
Richardson was shot multiple times in February 2012 in the Federal Heights area after police say he tried to run over an officer with a pickup. He failed to appear in court, and an arrest warrant was issued.
Dickey says Richardson will be charged with three more counts of attempted murder of officers.
