63 year old Lester Ralph Jones of Grand Junction, has been arrested for Paige Birgfeld's murder.

Jones is being charged with murder in the first degree, a class one felony, murder in the 2nd degree, a class two felony, second degree kidnapping, a class four felony, and a second degree arson, a class four felony.
Saturday marks the seventh year since local mom Paige Birgfeld disappeared.

No charges have been filed against the perpetrator who was behind the murder. Mesa County authorities say this is still an active investigation.

In September 2013 local officials took her story to cold case experts in Denver in hopes that a fresh perspective could help them answer key questions about the murder mystery.

Back in September District Attorney Pete Hautzinger said he expects a lot more time to pass before local authorities make any decisions on the suggestions made at the meeting.

On June 28, 2007 Paige went missing her car was later found on fire in Grand Junction. A hiker stumbled upon her remains off Highway 50 in 2012, which are being held from the family by authorities who say they could someday need them for evidence.

In an email sent by Paige's father, Frank, he said their family has no confidence that the Mesa County Sheriff's Office has the capability to solve this crime.
