CEDAREDGE, Colo. Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board will begin investigating the single engine Cessna plane crash near Cedaredge Tuesday night.
The pilot died in the crash. Officials do not believe anyone on the ground was hurt.
It crashed in the back yard of a home, just missing the house by about 50 yards. Neighbors says the crash sounded like a large freight train,
The plane was headed from California to Aspen.
The crash ignited a fire and it took 23 firefighters about 20 minutes to put out the blaze.
