Housing our homeless vets

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Much needed help for some of our country's bravest men and women is right under their noses, and many don't even know it exists.

When the Grand Junction Housing Authority began looking into how they could better help the community, they saw a big need for veteran housing.

Army vet Chris Hulen lives in with his wife and 3 kids on Housing Authority property.

"It's securing," says Hulen. "You're not stressing on a check-to-check basis anymore."

Hulen struggled with the Army to get the paperwork for a medical discharge and without VA benefits, he had trouble even making an initial deposit on a home for his family.

The Housing Authority stepped in and helped him get qualified for low income housing until those benefits came through.
