LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) The Colorado Department of Transportation will be making a final pass Monday to pick up flood debris at two locations along U.S. Highway 36 between Lyons and Estes Park.
The Longmont Times-Call reports CDOT is asking residents to bring trees, brush, grass and other vegetative debris to the area between mile posts 16.3 and 21 near Apple Valley Road west of Lyons. Flood-related construction and demolition waste -- such as wood framing from houses, furniture, carpet, clothes and concrete -- can be brought to mile post 18.7 at the pullout alongside the highway west of Lyons.
September's floods killed nine people, damaged or destroyed nearly 2,000 homes and washed out hundreds of miles of roads.
