MESA COUNTY, Colo. At least four Grand Junction massage parlors are under investigation for human trafficking and prostitution.
The Grand Junction Police Department, Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation gathered evidence at massage parlors in Grand Junction and Mesa County.
The four locations involved are New Hong Kong Spa, Oriental Spa, Tokyo Spa and Balanced Healing Massage and Spa. All of the facilities are located on North Avenue with the exception of Balanced Healing Massage and Spa, located on F and 32 Road.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department the investigation centers on possible human trafficking and prostitution. Part of the ongoing investigation will be to determine where the prostitutes are coming from and whether these women are unwillingly being trafficked from city to city.
One person was taken away handcuffed in a Mesa County Sheriff's car from a residence close to the F Road massage parlor at 608 32 Road. A neighbor in the area tells us the person at that address is the owner of the massage parlor, however, authorities have not yet confirmed it.
"Specifically, they started by looking for evidence of human trafficking...four locations were targeted and search and seizure warrants were executed at those locations," said Kate Porras, spokesperson for the Grand Junction Police Department.
Police say at this point there are some local charges that people may face, but the FBI is still investigating and will determine if any other charges will be made.
