Denver Zoo welcomes clouded leopard cub

DENVER (AP) The Denver Zoo is welcoming a new female clouded leopard cub with the hopes of breeding her later in life.

The cub, which hasn't yet been named, was born April 10 at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, a veterinary and reproductive research center in Front Royal, Virginia. She arrived at the Denver Zoo on Saturday.

The new addition will be introduced to the current clouded leopard cubs, Pi, a male, and Rhu, a female.

Clouded leopards, which are believed to be in decline, are not actually a species of leopard. They are considered a "bridge" between typical big cats, like lions and tigers, and small cats, like pumas, lynx and ocelots.
