GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. A local church will have to fix up its ceiling after a fire, but they're thankful that's the only damage.

"Just really thankful that it didn't spread," said Gabe Skillo, associate pastor at Landmark Baptist Church. "Just really small and contained. They took care of it right away."

A maintenance crew member discovered the fire at Landmark Baptist Church when he arrived there to do some work shortly before 11 a.m.

He got out of the building safely.

Grand Junction Fire Department responded and put the small ceiling fire out within ten minutes, but firefighters said it would've been much longer if the man hadn't caught the fire early.

"It was a blessing that we only had one person here," Skill said. "The fire department got here within one to two minutes and just took care of it right away."

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but firefighters said it started around a ceiling light.

The ceiling suffered a minimal amount of damage and there was not much smoke in the building after the fire.
