Canadian Consul General speaks with local businesses

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Western Slope businesses don't have to ship their products overseas if they want to try out the trade market, said Marcy Grossman, Canada's consul general during a visit to Grand Junction.

Grossman spoke about trade opportunities with our northerly neighbor during a round table discussion at the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce Thursday.

Business owners, politicians and chamber members discussed topics such as boosting manufacturing, energy and even beef trade between Colorado and Canada.

"Canada and Colorado actually share the largest international trading relationship, 6.5 billion dollars every single year," Grossman said. "Canada is the largest consumer, buyer of Colorado products. We're a big customer."

This was Grossman's first visit to the Western Slope, but she has been based in Denver for the past year and a half.

She was also scheduled to stop by Colorado Mesa University and Club 20 Thursday.
