GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce honored seven businesses around town Monday for hiring more than 300 people and helping to curb unemployment in Mesa County.
TelTech Communications has made serious strides in contributing to the community after hiring 170 people in Grand Junction within the last 18 months. The company refurbishes and reuses telecommunication equipment. Over the last two years it has expanded enough to allow more employment opportunities.
Genesis Green is connected to TelTech and has a warehouse full of metal cabinets stocked with equipment where employees take apart the material and recycle it.
Officials said they have hired many people at that location even within the last two months.
"We've been able to hire people, not only hire them but hire quality people with good wages and good benefits," Matt Guedes, TelTech Communications.
TelTech is not the only company adding to job numbers. The Canyon View Medical Plaza, along with Community Hospital as a tenant in the building, has hired 73 new people joint venture with a surgery center will also open up more positions.
Although the January unemployment rate in Mesa County was 8.3%, it is better than last years January number at 9.8%.
