GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The warm weather is bringing a lot of vehicles back to our roadways you may not have seen in a while.
Motorcyclists and cyclists are taking advantage of the sunshine, but they present a new kind of danger.
The Grand Junction Police Department says right now is the time when they start to see accidents involving bikes and motorcycles start to rise again.
But law enforcement officials say staying safe isn't only up to drivers with four wheels.
"Motorcycle riders also have that responsibility to make sure they're keeping themselves safe," says GJPD spokesperson, Kate Porras. "They need to be paying attention to the vehicles that are around them, looking out for people who might not be looking for them."
Authorities say while driving, it can be harder to judge the speed of a motorcycle compared to another car.
They recommend taking a second glance before turning or changing lanes to make sure you have enough space to do so safely.
