Paleontologists gather in the Grand Valley

FRUITA, Colo. It was two years in the making but finally, this week, paleontologists from across the globe have gathered in the Grand Valley to observe some of the worlds most cherished land.

A group of more than fifty scientists is spending the next few days learning all they can about the mid mesozoic landscape exposed right here in the Grand Valley - and organizers say it's an honor that they chose to come here.

"It just really cool to know that the Grand Valley has these classic fossils," says Mid Mesozoic co-convener, ReBecca Hunt-Foster. "And the best fossil exposures anywhere in the world that people would fly twenty hours just to come to the Grand Junction area."

On Thursday, the group will gather at the Dinosaur Journey Museum to discuss their research with colleagues.

They will also have a poster viewing session on Thursday - open to those with a museum membership - from 9:30 - 6:00 p.m.
