GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Mesa County Clerk and Recorder's Office is taking steps to make up for budget cuts without sacrificing service.
"I see our role as being the liaisons for the citizen and the people between the citizen and the government to get them the services that they need so customer service is huge," said Sheila Reiner, Mesa County Clerk and Recorder.
Reiner released a report showing trends in the office's budget, transactions and full time employees for the past four years.
Motor vehicle transactions and voter registrations have gone up over the years despite a lower budget.
"It's been a real challenge to keep our customer service levels where they need to be and do it with less resources, so it's just been a good experience and I think Mesa County should be proud of their government services," Reiner said.
Reiner cites the move to the Central Services building in 2012 as one factor in increasing efficiency by bringing elections, motor vehicle and bookkeeping offices to the same space.
The office has also worked to streamline processes and cross-train employees.
